Day 164 - From Loch Ness to the Isle of Skye

From Loch Ness, we drove west into the mountains. At one junction along the way, we decided to take the older one lane road that wound its way through the countryside and led to one of the historic ferry crossings to the Isle of Skye. It was a beautiful drive.

Some of the hotels and pubs made you feel so much like you were wrapped up in a kilt,

we found it a bit concerning to look up :-)

 

Day 163 - from Aberdeen to Loch Ness

From Aberdeen, we drove north to Inverness and then turned west along Loch Ness to head into the highlands.  The landscape was beautiful and we stopped along the way at various castles, Neolithic ruins, and particularly picturesque hillsides. 

Along the river Ness, there were also a few nice pubs and restaurants that were
well worth the stop.
