Day 166 - On the way back to Edinbourgh

 

We reluctantly left the beauty of the Isle of Skye and started a drive down the west coast of Scotland before heading back to Edinburgh.  As we drove across the bridge we had the distinct feeling that we were leaving a place that crossed time like no other…  Did you know that Dunvegan castle (home of Clan MacLeod) on the island’s northern tip has been continuously inhabited by the family for around 800 years? 

Along the west coast, you could see why they filmed many of the scenes from the Harry Potter films  here as it was quite beautiful - the first bridge below was used in the train scenes.

Two days later we were back in Edinburgh ready to head off on our next adventure and deeply pleased that at the last minute we decided to visit Scotland!

Day 165 - Isle of Skye

 

Places in many ways, can be a bit like people. As an example, sometimes you meet someone and something just clicks, like a puzzle. You cannot really explain why - it just does. You feel more alive, you feel as though you were a piece before and now you are whole.  In these connections we can take wonderful journeys of discovery, learning to know and love new things.

Somewhere inside, we felt at home here.

 

In Scotland we became aware of the beauty of low clouds, the comforting presence of the green earth under the morning mist, the magical mystery of lonely ruins, the splendor of a stark and rugged country and the invigorating feel of a cool breeze playing in our scarves.
