Day 19 to 25 - Kyoto

One of the places we visited in Kyoto was a WWII memorial resting on the mountain slopes that border the East side of the city.  Avalokitesvara, who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas, sits above this memorial that pays its respects to the Unknown Soldier, the over 2 million Japanese soldiers who died and poignantly to all Allied personnel, each individually named, that perished under Japanese jurisdiction during the course of the war.

Please God, whatever your name, help us overcome our failings and find the path that leads to peace
