From
Queenstown, we drove to the West Coast across mountains in the mist,
waterfalls, cystal blue clear rivers and deep green rainforests.
Even the major highways here are two lane winding roads, all with one lane
bridges. Beautiful and pristine.
In Haast,
we were expecting a small town and found the edge of civilization. At 4:00 in the afternoon, we found one restaurant
open, a few hotels and a couple of empty helicopter pads to take people out
past "roads end". It was
quiet... almost eerily so. It really
felt like the land at the edge of the map. Mountains to the North, South and
East and a beautiful beach to the West.
